The community in general:

Santamaría On behalf of the Trans community and why we work , we want to make some clarifications and reflections in relation to official information received about the events of the morning on 24 May 2009, which became the death of the Lord Juan Fernando Garcia.

First, we condemn all acts of violence that harms the peaceful coexistence among citizens, especially those who now acts as concern us, and we sympathize with the pain fraternal family, friends and friends of Mr Juan Fernando Garcia. In

Santamaría, our social work has a coverage of 10% of the Trans community, the total estimated population of the city, which until now unknown to (s) any person (s) responsible (s) of this violent act and the motives of the same. However, our organization and Trans community join forces and make the necessary follow up to the authorities for these facts are clarified.

Similarly, we expect accountability and research case is individual in nature and not widespread, framed in due process, especially on the presumption of innocence, as an exercise of recognition and guarantee of human rights for all people.

In this regard, we urge the authorities to this type of research are equally important and rapidly when the victims were transgender women, and encourage the media to be respectful, objectives, without creating biased perceptions , light and can encourage feelings of stigmatization and violence against the Trans community.

Finally, we appeal to the general public that these acts do not encourage feelings of stigmatization and violence against trans community, contributing to the development of a more respectful and inclusive.

Sincerely,

Santamaría
