The Christian Liberation Movement welcomes the decision of the President of the United States, Barack Obama, closing the prison at Guantanamo Bay. On previous occasions we have expressed our stance against the existence of the prison on Cuban soil. But also, it is essential to remember that, a few miles away is the provincial prison of Guantánamo horrible, inhumane conditions where the government of Cuba has locked up, and still maintains, wrongly convicted Cuban citizens to express freely, to write or pick up signatures for the Varela Project. Still remain in Cuba for more than 200 prisoners of conscience. From here you also have to denounce the hypocrisy of those who (rightly) have denounced the prison of Guantanamo Bay but forgotten, consciously, the imprisonment of human rights defenders of that other Guantanamo is all Cuba. in the provincial prison of Guantánamo, is among others, Jesus Mustafa Felipe, who in 2003 was sentenced to an arbitrary sentence of 18 months and one day without notice was removed from the cell, took him and sentenced without any legal guarantee , at 25 years.
